It Is Teamwork

Dear parents, prospective parents, lovers, and singles, it is teamwork.

My dad sent me money for my matriculation but my mum came for the matriculation from Lagos to Cross River because someone had to stay back and watch the business. It is teamwork.

My dad paid my school fees at the university but days before the exams begins, I would send my exam timetable to my mum to pray over it. She would do so during her midnight prayers. It is teamwork.

I was to go apply for something. My dad called one of the ladies in charge to give me directions but when it was time, I decided not to go again. But my mum called and spoke to me. I got fired up and went. It is teamwork.

I can go on and on about where these team efforts have helped me and I now see why the devil fights hard to separate marriages.

Nobody is better than the other. The constant effort to dignify who is better keeps pulling homes down. Nobody’s work is greater than the other. I mentioned this in my book ‘Building a Strong Foundation.’ If her 100% effort is carrying 50 blocks but his 100% effort is carrying 75 blocks, that does not mean he is better than her. It only shows strength differs.

Let me explain better.

If his 100% financial effort brings $700 and her 100% financial effort brings $300, that does not mean he is better than her (and vice versa). If her 100% family effort means her been present 16hrs, and his 100% family effort means him been present 10hrs, that does not mean she is better than him (and vice versa). It only shows strength and circumstances differ in certain areas.

I pray God helps us see that competition between couples isn’t what He predestined for marriages. And that His desire was for each person to complement each other.

May your relationships and marriages be filled with love, understanding, grace, and an overflow of blessings in Jesus name.
