The screen of my phone got broken towards the end of last year. I decided to manage things like that since prices skyrocketed. I kept using the phone like that until the phone reminded me this month that it needs to get fixed. Its screen began to blink and Apps began to shuffle by themselves.
I knew I couldn’t ignore it any longer and had to repair the phone. With the help of my dad (God bless you, daddy), I repaired the phone.
After the repair, there was a slight issue. And what was that? My phone felt unrealistic in my hands. I had gotten so used to the broken screen that this new one felt unreal.
So many of us are in this phase right now. We’ve seen things break – relationships, friendships, families. We’ve been robbed of our dreams or positions, and now feel like that’s the way of life. We’ve decided to sit in our comfort zone instead of trying out anything new again. We feel the reality of life is a broken and messed up one where you get betrayed and get your heartbroken. But hey, listen…
Don’t get so used to things being broken that you forget how things were when they were smooth. Remember those few times when you actually enjoyed yourself. Those few times a friend embraced you and comforted you with words. And those times God held you by the hand and said, “You, are mine; I’ll never leave you nor forsake you.”
I pray that as you step into this week, may God help you to channel your focus to the beauty of life. May the distractions from the world not sweep you off your feet. And may you not forget what God is doing in and through you this very season in Jesus name.
