Who Will Call You Father/ Mother?

“And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” – 2 Kings 2:12

What could have made Elisha call Elijah, father?

My answer: VALUE (Good use of gift, evidence of responsibilities, the fulfillment of purpose).

“Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.” – 2 Kings 2:14

Elisha could have been stranded but the God (the value) of his father, stepped in.

What will respond at the mention of your name? Will doors open for your children because of your influence, character, or works?

We call on the God of Elijah, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God Of Esther, God of Deborah, God of Bishop Oyedepo, God of Dr. D.K. Olukoya, we call several names, which aren’t bad at all but when will people call on our God? When will they call God with our name tagged?

What mantle (inheritance, blessing) will you leave for your children?

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…” ~ Provs. 13:22

The Bible emphasizes a good man because a good man can be a father but a father may not be a good man. The word father is earned from responsibilities.

Not seeing something wrong in your attitude towards what God gave you (responsibilities or gifts) will make you the wrong person for the world to receive from. Not handling what God gave you, gives the world leverage to mishandle you because they don’t get any value from you.

Who will refer your children as John, son of… or Ada, daughter of…?

We shout “Pastor Ibiyeomie and Dr. Enenche, sons of the Prophet”, but do you know what Bishop Oyedepo did to become a father?

What are you doing to create value?

You will only be taken as seriously as the way you handle the gift inside you. If you disregard the content given to you, you as a container will be recycled or thrown away.

In all, Who will call you father, Who will call you mother and What will you be remembered for?

Remain blessed in Jesus name. Amen.
