The Scent of Water

“For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, _Yet at the scent of water_ it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant.” – Job 14:7-9

What is does water signify?

Water popularly represents life. It can be associated with birth, fertility, and refreshment. It symbolizes life, vitality, purity, youthfulness, good health, and satisfaction.

Here’s what water in the verse above signifies to me: Grace and mercy.

At the scent of the grace and mercy of God, you are refired, energized for successful continuity. Just as water brings life, grace makes you refreshed, keeps you pushing. It makes you withstand what could have destroyed you.

Grace is the power that God willingly gives us to help us do what we could never do on our own. The tree cannot grow back or continue on its own without water. There is little we can achieve without the grace and mercy of God.

70 to 75% of the earth’s surface is covered with water. So why should a tree be without water? God has given us grace in abundance and even given us free assess to obtain it, so why should we lack it?
