I’m a big fan of cartoon that my mum wonders if I’d ever outgrow it. Recently, I watched How to train your dragon 2.
The King’s son, whose name I can’t remember had a dragon as a pet/friend called Night Fury. The kingdom was attacked by a dragon possessor and his influence turned Night fury into something else. Night fury controlled by the dark force killed his master’s father, the King. The master in anger sent him away and he was completely influenced by the enemy.
Long story cut short, the King’s son got his friend/pet back. How? He got him with just one statement:
It was not your fault.
This statement brought Night fury back to his senses as he was able to get over the guilt of killing the King.
If only we can tell that to our friends that they may no longer live in guilt. Guilt leads to depression and depression leads to oppression by the enemy. It gives an expressway for the enemy to subdue.
Continuously playing the blame card in your homes, marriage, friendship, or on yourself won’t take you forward. Instead, sit down and examine what went wrong. Strike the root of the issue, not the leaves. Striking the leaves will make everywhere untidy and funnily enough, they will still grow more from the branches.
Stop ruminating about the past, instead exhale the past and inhale the future.
